Coffee and Conversation @ Cottonwood Café Tickets
Aug 20 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Come and spend a little time on your Sunday morning hanging out with other godless folks while enjoying a little coffee (or other beverage of your choice) and some stimulating conversation. It’s a great way to start the day!

We always have enjoyable conversations in a nice relaxing atmosphere.

As it is quite understandable that many godless people seem to believe that one of the best things about being an atheist is not having to get up on Sunday morning to go to church, remember that there is no requirement to be on time, stay the entire time or even be dressed in your finest clothes. You are welcome, whenever and however you join us!

Solar Eclipse Viewing @ Homestead National Monument Tickets
Aug 21 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

On August 21, 2017, a solar eclipse will cross the continental United States for the first time in 38 years! The last time an eclipse path crossed the continental United States was in 1979. The total solar eclipse will travel from Oregon to South Carolina. Here in Nebraska, we will get an amazing opportunity to see the eclipse as it passes overhead.

Although the eclipse will be visible from Lincoln (about 1 minute of totality), one of the best spots for viewing in the state will be at Homestead National Monument just outside of Beatrice, NE (over 2 minutes and 30 seconds of totality). The Monument is an official NASA viewing location. (https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/2017_solar_eclipse_nasa_official_viewing_locations.html) There are numerous activities during the day surrounding the actual eclipse. In addition, Bill Nye, the Science Guy, will be at the Monument that day taping a show.

To facilitate viewing of the eclipse Lincoln Atheists will provide viewing glasses for those who come down.

Here is some additional information regarding viewing of the eclipse. https://www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/how-to-view-eclipse Please read about safely viewing the eclipse to avoid eye injury.

Homestead National Monument is expecting very large crowds for this event and has set up remote parking in Beatrice and shuttle buses to transport individuals out to the Monument. For information on parking and transportation click here: https://www.nps.gov/home/parking-and-transportation.htm

If anyone is interested in carpooling to the event, please contact Brian (brian@lincolnatheists.org) or Carra (carra@lincolnatheists.org).
