The Education Committee of Lincoln Atheists is sponsoring a special event for the next Discussion Group. We are hosting two speakers! The first is Thomas Gray – speaking on a variety of pertinent topics including Atheism in the military; starting a Humanist group; becoming a Humanist celebrant and chaplain; volunteering at Camp Quest, and his efforts to launch Omaha Oasis. The second speaker is Clay Farris Naff. His topic is—Can an Atheist Have Faith? Not in God, of course, but in a successful progressive coalition. Clay will discuss how proud, engaged atheists can fit into an alliance with religious people of good faith — without engaging in hypocrisy — and why they may want to do so. These interesting ideas and inspiring topics will provide much to consider about the future of atheists and atheism.

The event will be August 27, 2017, at Bennet Martin Library in the 3rd-floor meeting room. It will begin with drinks & cookies at 2 p.m. The first speaker will speak at 2: 20 p.m., followed by discussion; and a break. The second speaker will speak at 3:30 p.m. We will then go to Misty’s, 200 N 11th St, Lincoln, NE 68508 for dinner with the speakers. Everyone is invited!
